Mental ramblings on wood and canvas made since leaving the city, inspired by my new surroundings in the country.
After a period of making Pop Realistic paintings, I found that I enjoyed painting the hair with it’s fine sinuous lines, which inspired me to make new paintings solely about hair, which eventually became more graphic.
Large scale Pop Realism paintings inspired by fashion magazines that have apray-paint stencils over the realistic paintings defacing the artwork, taking the original image out of it’s natural context of selling expensive garments to women, becoming more sexually charged yet satirical. The paintings are a mixture of styles; flat versus modeled, naturalistic versus graphic questioning ideas of beauty, taste and aesthetics within art.
